Operations Strategy

01 / Making it all work together

> Create a framework of interrelated systems for one efficient process.

> Start a catalyst for change within individuals and teams.

> Produce a strategic blueprint for current needs and future growth.

10 point plan

Example:

1 > Clear, overt and concise statements of intent from the leadership down.  Supported by investment, commitment and determination to modernise business operations.

> Team restructuring with clearly defined responsibilities and job descriptions.

> Implementation of:

  • Warehouse Principals.

  • Rental management system.

  • Digital paperless solutions.

> Systematically reorganise the warehouse, allocating defined spaces for key business activities.  Including Goods In, Goods Out, Quarantine, Clear Picking Bays, Vehicle Loading Process, External Compound Parking, Mass Storage Area, Tools, and Repair Workshop.

> Review and streamline the inventory.  Aim to increase the number of ‘standard kits’ and reduce as many variables of the same item.

> Overhaul current picking lists for increased accuracy.  Includes updated weights, generic stock names and alignment with the warehouse layout.

> Introduce a comprehensive crew methodology bible, complete with diagrams and instructional materials.  Aiming for consistency, safety and minimising reliance on crew memory.

> Implementation of live asset tracking through QR codes.  Integrated with crew and vehicle management for seamless operations.

> All new products must be evaluated through an ‘Asset lifetime journey’ matrix before their introduction.

10 > Undertake a complete reconstruction of the company’s CRM database system.  Focus on advanced asset management, multi-base operations and robust reporting data for profitability.
